Do you feel your dog can be a comfort to others in need? Are you willing to volunteer your time with your dog to visit hospitals, schools or nursing homes? Then therapy dog prep classes sound like they are for you! Enroll today for the opportunity to be a fantastic human-dog team!
How many prep classes and what does it cost?
4 - 1 hour weekly classes, $250 for one dog handler plus $25 for each test. Additional fees for certification to be paid direct to NTDR and AKC.
Enrollment in this program DOES NOT guarantee you will pass the test. If you pass the test, a second, off site test will be scheduled to complete the testing requirements. Food is not allowed during testing.
Who can register?
Your dog must have passed the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen exam. (The exam must have been taken when the dog is at least one year old.) We can provide on site testing for CGC to fulfill this requirement. If your dog tested for CGC prior to being 1 year, a retest will be necessary.
Your dog successfully completed an intermediate/advanced dog training class such as Canine Good Citizen, Puppy Kindergarten, Advanced Puppy or the like. Eligibility will be determined on a case by case basis.
Dog must have up-to-date vaccinations and be in good health.
Dog must be at least one year old at the time of the test.
